Stream warming driven by the conversion of forests into agricultural areas was associated to reductions of 43-55% in fish size, and a laboratory experiment shown that fishes lose mass when reared at a temperature similar to that observed in agricultural streams, while at a temperature similar to that observed in forest streams they grow. Declining fish body size may have important implications for the conservation of this group and for the provision of food and income for humans.
