RESEARCH LINES
"Ecological and Evolutionary Physiology"This line of research involves studies of the interrelationships between the physiological processes of animals and their environment, as well as the evolutionary mechanisms and historical patterns of physiological diversification. Central questions in Ecological and Evolutionary Physiology include the impact of the environment on physiological processes linked to reproduction and behavioral performance, with an emphasis on the ability to adjust in the context of temporal and spatial gradients, whether natural or induced by anthropic modification of the environment. Therefore, the research topics addressed in this line present developments for the area of biological conservation, ecological modeling, and ecology of climate change.

"Integrative Physiology"This line of research is characterized by the integrative investigation of processes and physiological mechanisms at various levels of organization, from modulation of gene expression to integrated changes of multiple systems at the organism level. Included in this line are studies of physiological mechanisms and processes in multiple models and contexts, including cellular processes, classical laboratory animal models, wild animals of multiple phylogenetic and human groups. The basic knowledge generated by many of the studies in this line is also characterized by the potential of direct application in several areas of conservation, health and biology.
